Tom Daglis is certified as a USPTA Master Professional by the United States Professional Tennis Association (now rebranded as RSPA-Racquet Sports Professional Association), a certification that is shared with less than 1 percent of the USPTA membership worldwide. His extensive involvement with the USPTA has included serving as National President for the USPTA from ‘09-‘13 and the Southern Division in '95-'96. He currently serves on the USPTA Executive Committee as a National Past President.
The USPTA has honored Tom with distinctions such as the George Bacso Tester of the Year, USPTA Southern Professional of the Year, USPTA Mid-Atlantic Professional of the Year, USPTA Maryland Professional of the Year, three-time USPTA Georgia Professional of the Year, three-time USPTA Southern Tester of the Year and the coveted Southern Pride of the South award. In 2006, he was awarded the USPTA's most prestigious national award, as the Alex Gordon United States Professional of the Year. In 2016 Tom was honored with the International Tennis Hall of Fame Educational Merit Award. Tom is a member of the USPTA Southern Division Hall of Fame. He has previously served as Director of Tennis at fine clubs such as Atlanta Country Club, GA; Concourse Athletic Club, GA; and Lakewood Country Club, MD, and is the former Professional Tennis Management Director within the schools of business at both Ferris State University in Michigan and Methodist University in North Carolina. Tom’s most recent position was the Executive Director of the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College, the nation’s largest single surface tennis center with sixty (60) tennis courts. In this position, he managed a professional tennis staff and facility operations, providing active tennis programming and tournament management to the local area, resulting in an approximate 33% of the total economic impact to the City of Rome, Georgia.
Tom has successfully directed large tennis events and coach's workshops on a national scale and has personally owned and operated five Tennis Specialty Pro Shops. A past president of the Georgia Professional Tennis Association, the GPTA has honored Tom with Tennis Director of the Year, Community Service Award and the Georgia Peach Award for contributions to Georgia tennis. He is a certified Master Racquet Technician with the USRSA, past president of USTA Mississippi, and has served on various USTA national committees. Tom has been a speaker at multiple USPTA World Conferences, USPTA Division Conferences, and Club Managers’ Association of America (CMAA) World Conferences.
Tom is currently the President/Owner of the Pelican Tennis Group, LLC, now based in Fort Myers, Florida, providing tennis consulting services to the entire tennis industry. He earned his undergraduate degree at Columbus State University, GA and holds a M.S. degree in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University, MI. Tom has recently joined the firm of McMahon Careers, the private club industry’s Executive Search and Consulting firm focused solely on Racquet Sports in the role of Racquet Sports Executive Search Consultant and Career Coach.
